To be clear.. it just sounds cool to say the pack..dogs don’t operate like that because they are domesticated.
Phoebe. Tolkien. Wicca. Chippi. R2. Kola. Zoe.
Newly added Oracle, the Border Collie
Oracle is a rescue from The Chautauqua County Humane Society and she is currently scared of the world.
My dogs are Australian Shepherds. The Aussie is a herding breed who despite the name is not from Australia but off the coast of California in the 19th century, they arrived at the coast by way of the Australian route, it is believed they are descendant from Basque shepherds. They are an intelligent, comical breed that is both loyal and independent..though mine are more like velcro and want to live in my soul. The Australian Shepherd was accepted by the AKC in September of 1991. They come in many colors, but it’s important to not mix a merle to merle because the puppies have a 1 in 4 chance of being born deaf, blind, have cognitive issues and or still born, they are also more prone to having a part of the MRD1 gene which means they cant have certain medical things like some vaccinations and also spay/neuter. Chippi is a Double merle or from merle to merle breeding and while she is a gorgeous white dog she is deaf and partially blind and has part of the MRD1 gene so she is not spayed. I’m going to cap this section off with stating that I am not a breeder, I’m just giving information. Phoebe is the red and white, Tolkien is the blue merle with copper points, Wicca is the black tri, Chippi is the double merle, and Artoo(R2) is the Mini Aussie and he is a blue merle with white.
The Border Collie is another herding breed. The AKC recognized the breed in feb.1995. They came to the USA in 1879 and originate in Scotland where they date back some 300 years. They are viking dogs.
herding breeds are not for everyone, they are high energy and very intelligent which means if you don’t keep them busy they will find something to do. They also like to herd people and other pets which includes nipping. People get them because they are cute but then they find out quickly what it means to have a herding breed and they end up at the shelter like Oracle
In the photos below you will see photos of a Saint Bernard and a Great Pyrenees, they are Zoe and Kola and I miss them dearly.
Phoebe the red and white Australian shepherd.
She is currently 9 years old, she came home at 10 weeks old. Ive watched this pup grow into a magificant dog. Phoebe is well tempered, healthy and intelligent. She knows sit, laydown, come, stay, leave it, off, walk nice, shake, sit pretty, “move”, get the toy.
Tolkien is phoebes brother and he is a blue merle with copper points.
he is a loving and loyal boy who knows sit, stay, come, leave it, off and laydown, he also knows shake , paws up and hug.
Wicca came to me after a client could no longer care for her. She was part of my puppy star program and knew my dogs already so I felt more than comfortable taking her in.
she knows sit, stay, leave it, off, lay down, come, and shake.
R2 D2 is a mini australian shepherd or mini american shepherd. He was dropped off at my uncles house and his dogs were not happy about it R2 knows sit, shake, lay down, leave it, come, walk nice and off. he also shakes and rolls over. I am working with him to learn EMF detection.
Chippi came to me when a client got an aussie from craigslist, they had her for 4 days before surrendering her to me because they didnt know it was going to be difficult to train her. She is a double merle and is blind, deaf and dumb – at times (its just a saying, i didnt make the saying)
Oracle is a Border Collie, I recently adopted her from the humane society, I couldnt stand to see her sit in the kennels. She came to the humane society because the family she had could no longer care for her and they got her from the Amish who wanted to shoot her. she is just 2 years old and has had a chaotic life to say the least, im very happy to provide her direction love and stabilty.
